Alonzo was born in El Paso, Texas, and raised in Cd. Juarez, Mexico and in El Paso. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Texas at El Paso and then attended the University of Cincinnati College of Law where he received his Juris Doctor. While in Law School, Alonzo served as a Senior Editor for the Immigration and Nationality Law Review, an internationally recognized annual law journal and one of only two major student-edited American law journals focusing on immigration law. Alonzo was also a Senior Editor for Human Rights Quarterly, a leading academic journal in the human rights field.

Alonzo is licensed by the New Mexico Bar to practice Immigration and Nationality in all U.S. jurisdictions. He joined the Law Offices of Erika N. Salter, P.C. in 2021 and focuses only on immigration law. He has worked in several for-profits and non-for-profit immigration law firms in Ohio and Texas.

Alonzo lived most of his life on the Mexico/U.S. border, which allowed him the opportunity to see and experience firsthand the struggles and hardships immigrants face every day. He is deeply passionate about protecting the rights of immigrants and guiding them in the maze of U.S. immigration law.
